My latest WSS work

I've been SLOWLY working on some Swiss for the French Army.  They are almost totally done and here are a few pictures.  The pictures of the flags are for the Pfyffer regiment and these flags are from Maverick Models. Once I've got them fully based up I'll add a few more.

These next few pictures of of the Bourbon regiment that I just reflagged.  I had GMB flags on them and I've switched out to The Flag Dude.  I really like his flags, especially the cloth (material) ones.  The just have a nice look and feel to them.

and finally, here are a few pics of the finials that I'll be putting on the Swiss unit.

One of the many reasons I've been slow to paint lately.  My son graduating from high school.  I fear that I will have even less money available as he enters college in the fall.

Latest efforts

I've been away for a bit, working at the day job which lately has run into working into the night as well.  But I push on.  Remember those Danes I showed you a while back?  They weren't totally done because I didn't have the flags yet so I couldn't mount them on their bases.  Well, I've got the flags now and boy are they good.  These flags are done by The Flag Dude and he did a really nice job.  And not to talk too long, here they are -

Next, I've been working on a unit I've been wanting to paint for a while now - Garde Francaises.  I've painted just one battalion but I eventually plan on having 4 on the table plus at least 2 of the Garde Suisse. The flags with this unit are from Maverick Models in the UK and I have to say that I do like these flags a lot. You will notice that there is NOT a white colonel's color with the Garde.  This is because they did not carry that in the field unless the King or the Dauphin was present.  Without any further delay, here they are

New cavalry units

I have been busy with the holidays and work lately but I did find time to paint a couple new units of French cavalry - Royal Carabiniers.  I painted up only two of the 5 brigades to start with as I didn't want to overload the French with elite cavalry.  I also had the Nugent/Fitzjames unit painted up by Javikos Studios in Spain who can be commissioned through Ioannis.  All flags are done by The Flag Dude.

If anyone wants me to take the pictures in a different way please let me know and I'll try to accomodate you.  And these 3 new units didn't help the French at the convention game one bit.  The French cav got crushed.

Here are a few pics of this very nice convention held just about a week ago.

The people who ran the con were really open to us putting on a big game.  We put all of our figures on the table which was around 2,500 28mm figures.

New WSS Project Unit

I've decided to take a bit of a rest from painting the good guy (i.e. French & their allies) so I've started a Danish infantry unit.  I'll be painting 1 battalion of the Prince Georg regiment.  What you'll see next are a few pics of how I'm progressing with the unit.  I've got the coat, facings, hair, and muskets painted along with some parts you can't see with these photos.  One thing I am struggling with is what the device on the grenadier's caps should be.  Sapherson doesn't really give me a good idea and these Robert Hall prints do not show a grenadier cap.  I purchased the battalion pack from Front Rank so the grenadiers are included.  From my readings it seems as though the Grenadier Corp was created early on in the 18th century and the infantry regiments eventually replaced the grenadiers they lost to that Corp.  Nonetheless I'm still trying to determine the cap info along with which flag is correct.  Sapherson describes a very different flag from what the Hall print shows.  I'm inclined to go with what Hall has as I've heard this information is very well researched.  I've posted my question for this on the League of Augsburg site and people who know a lot more than me are tracking things down so hopefully I'll know soon.

You'll notice in the background a unit of SYW Minden Austrian infantry I plan on painting next.  This particular unit I plan on selling and I'll post pictures of it once I have it ready - hopefully in late November or early December.  I never said I was a fast painter!
